Publicly, the sports journalist lived quite modestly: until the very end he was registered in Balashikha on Sportivnaya Street. I drove a Lada Kalina and a Nsan X-Trail. His most expensive car was a Volkswagen Touareg. Nevertheless, he left behind expensive real estate in the capital region.

We are talking, first of all, about an apartment in the prestigious Moscow district of Khamovniki. Here on Frunzenskaya Embankment a house was built in 1956 by order of the Administration of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. The cost per square meter, depending on the footage, here ranges from 600–700 thousand rubles. Vasily Utkin occupied a modest two-room apartment with an area of ​​only 46 square meters. However, its cost now could be about 30 million rubles.

In addition, according to documents in Utkin’s name, two plots of land with a total area of ​​20 acres were registered in the village of Fedotovo – this is in the Ruza district of the Moscow region. On them lies a solid three-story house with outbuildings and even a small swimming pool.

In one of his interviews, the journalist opened up, saying that he purchased this splendor in 2008 for about $1 million, without rebuilding anything, as the previous owner had given away. He did only the interior work on his own. Utkin purchased a country house with a mortgage and paid it off until 2019 inclusive.

It is quite possible that the heirs will receive certain amounts that could remain in the accounts of the sports commentator. Back in 2020, he boasted that he earned enough to live without need.

In recent years, Vasily Utkin has worked for himself. Big projects on federal channels one day ended, and the journalist went into free swimming. Judging by the Unified State Register of Legal Entities, he was a co-founder of two legal entities – information (sports.ru) and advertising agencies.

However, both projects cannot be called successful for the journalist – in both cases, his participation in them was short-term. Utkin earned most of his money through his individual entrepreneurs. As part of it, he ran his own YouTube channel, which had 610 thousand subscribers, and a telegram channel. They mainly brought in advertising money.

Utkin spent them on the maintenance of his country house, which he constantly stocked with various vintage furniture, friends (for example, for a long time he supported the editor of one of his projects, who was once left without work) and the activities of the amateur football club “Egrisi” that he bought. He spent about 700 thousand rubles a year on this hobby.

And after all the payments, according to the commentator himself, every month he left himself about one and a half million rubles for living expenses.

Who will get the inheritance?

Despite all the publicity of his profession, the journalist turned out to be a lonely person. In his life, a serious relationship happened only once with a colleague. Natalia Pakueva. The former lover is unlikely to even be in the will: at one time the girl “traded” a sports commentator for the object of his comments – a hockey player Sergei Ignashevich.
